A spiral cleaning means comprising a mobile carriage (11) which is adapted to travel along a path located beside a row of spirals, said spiral cleaning means further comprising a spray head (20) supported from the carriage (11) and having at least one nozzle (22), a fluid delivery conduit connected to the at least spray head (20) and adapted to be connected to a pressurised source of water, said at least spray head (20) being mounted to be movable on the carriage to be able to direct a water stream into at least some of the turns of a spiral adjacent the path when the carriage (11) is in the vicinity of the adjacent spiral.
