The continuous belt (13) to carry a drawn sliver (6) through a fiber bundling zone is a woven or knitted mesh belt, for a suction air flow to pass through. The mesh belt is composed of synthetic filaments with a diameter of 0.06-0.2 mm, with a mesh width of <= 0.3 mm. Or the diameter of the filaments is <= 0.1 mm forming a mesh belt with a mesh width <= 0.1 mm. The edges of the mesh belt are welded. The continuous belt can also be an extruded plastics belt, with stamped perforations as a center perforated row. The stamped perforations have a diameter of 0.6-1.0 mm. The extruded belt is in two layers, where the inner layer has a low friction coefficient and the outer layer has a relative shape stability.
