This invention is a method and apparatus for dispensing topical medication. The apparatus consists of a dispenser (20) comprising a piston assembly (24) slidably engaged with a housing (22), and a nozzle (58) frictionally attached to the housing (22). The housing (22) comprises an upper reservoir (44), a lower reservoir (48), and a nozzle reservoir (52). The piston assembly (24) comprises a piston (30) attached to a rod (28), the rod (28) reciprocating within a housing rod aperture (40), and the piston (30) reciprocating within a housing bore (23). The upper reservoir (44) is defined by a housing top (25), the housing bore (23), and the piston (30). The lower reservoir (48) is defined by the piston (30), the housing bore (23), and a lower reservoir floor (49). The upper reservoir (44) communicates with the exterior of the housing (22) by means of a normally closed upper reservoir valve (46), and with the lower reservoir (48) by means of a normally open piston valve (36). The nozzle reservoir (52) communicates with the lower reservoir (48) through a normally closed lower reservoir valve (50), the exterior of the housing (22) through a stem bore (56) in a housing stem (54), and through a nozzle outlet (62). The method comprises the steps of locating pores (12) in an area to which topical medication (68) is to be administered, massaging skin (2) around each pore (12) until each pore (12) is open, and applying medication (68) to each pore (12) using the dispenser (20).
