PURPOSE: A method for allocating frame offset of a base station in a code division multiple access(CDMA) communication system, is provided to select a frame offset value having a largest call-allocation margin in a neighboring base station when setting up frame offset in an optional base station, so that a rate of a soft hand-off failure can be reduced as the corresponding base station has a high call allocation probability when soft hand-off is requested to neighboring base stations. CONSTITUTION: If a call is generated from a mobile station and frame offset allocation is requested to an optional base station, the base station informs a control station of the allocation request. The base station receives information on frame offset values having margins in allocating calls of neighboring base stations, and calculates self frame offset values. The base station decides whether self frame offset values having margins exist. If so, the base station confirms each number of neighboring base stations having call-allocation margins for each frame offset value having self call allocation margin, by using the received information on the frame off set values of the neighboring base stations. The calls are allocated with the biggest frame offset value among the numbers of the neighboring base stations. |
