PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white balance adjustment circuit with which the influence of a noise included in image data is prevented, and which can be adjusted even when an object has a fluctuation of luminance. SOLUTION: Each chrominance signal changed into a picture signal by a CCD 1 is amplified by a gain set for each color in a white balance amplifier 4. The gain is adjusted for each color through a gain adjustment signal S6 so that the ratio of an integrated value integrating the chrominance signal of a pixel area having luminance higher than a threshold value signal St reaches a prescribed ratio. The threshold value signal St is adjusted so that the area value Sd of the pixel area integrating the chrominance signal becomes in a prescribed range. In the case that the area value is zero when the threshold value signal St is adjusted, the threshold value signal St at the time is stored as a marginal threshold value, and the adjustment range of the threshold value signal St is restricted based on the marginal threshold value.
