PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator capable of responding to a load variation in the state of always having a capacity available irrespective of the temperature thereof. SOLUTION: An output current from the generator 1 is rectified by a converter 3 formed of a thyristor bridge, and an inverter 4 converts a direct current outputted from the converter 3 to an alternating current with a commercial frequency and transmits the current to a load 5. A fuel control part 10 controls the speed of an engine 2 so that the conducting angle of a thyristor forming the converter 3 is held at a target conducting angle. By setting the target conducting angle within a predicted range of less than the maximum conducting angle, the generator can rapidly response to the load variation in the state of always having a capacity available. The target conducting angle is corrected according to the temperature of the generator 1 so that the engine is not overloaded and the speed is not increased more than necessary.
