PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing system that can make simultaneous recording to recording media and flexibly set a recording mode, and save recording time, electric power and so on. SOLUTION: When digital music data of a CD loaded in a CD part 12 are recorded to two MDs in MD parts 13a and 13b, the music to be recorded to the CD of the MD part 13a and the compressing method and the music to be recorded to the CD of the MD part 13b and the compressing method are independently fixed respectively, and then a MD-recording processing program is produced based on the fixed contents. Then, a system controller 11 simultaneously executes the processing for reproducing the CD in the CD part 12 and the processing for recording to the MDs in the MD parts 13a and 13b based on the contents of the MD-recording processing program.
