PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant coated optical fiber which ensures improved adhesive strength, when bonded to a connecting body (particularly a ferrule for a connector) by way of an epoxy adhesive. SOLUTION: The outermost layer coating material of the flame retardant coated optical fiber comprises a flame retardant resin composition, prepared by adding a flame retardant to a thermoplastic polyester elastomer. The Shore hardness (D) of the flame retardant resin composition is 40-70, and the tensile elongation is 400-600%. The flame retardant coated optical fiber ensures improved adhesive strength with a connecting body (particularly ferrule for connector).
