PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water supply treatment apparatus capable of obtaining a decarbonization effect equal to that of a conventional acid and alkali adding method without using chemicals. SOLUTION: An electrolytic cell 1 is internally demarcated into an anode chamber 2 and a cathode chamber 3 by a diaphragm 6 and an anode 4 is installed in the anode chamber 2 while a cathode 5 is installed in the cathode chamber 3. Water to be supplied or replenishing water is introduced into the anode chamber 2 through piping 1a to flow out of the anode chamber 2 through piping 1b. Voltage is applied across the anode 4 and the cathode 5 from a power supply 10 through a current controller 11. Since the water having passed through the anode chamber 2 has acidic pH, decarbonization treatment is performed in a degassing device 20. Alkali water from the electrolytic cell 1 is added to this acidic water after decarbonization treatment to obtain neutral or alkaline treated water. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
