PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer bidrectional communication method capable of executing bidirectional communication between a printer and an external device by using an existing signal line. SOLUTION: The method has a process for receiving a command requesting prescribed status data transmitted from an external device, a process S1 for detecting the command, a process S4 for switching the function of a signal line of a centro-parallel interface and that of an interface based on the centro- parallel interface, a process S5 for setting up the prescribed status data in accordance with the command, and a process S6 for outputting the status data from the signal line. |
