PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake emergency operation device for an elevator capable of accurately determining whether or not emergency operation should be performed. SOLUTION: An elevator rope response analysis means 16 calculates lateral displacementδx,δy based on input of detection accelerationαx,αy, a detection car position and a detection car load, and a lateral displacement composition means 17 outputs composition displacement D obtained by compositing the lateral displacementδx,δy as lateral displacement of a rope lateral displacement calculation means 15. A emergency operation selection determination means 18 determines whether or not earthquake emergency operation should be selected by comparing the lateral displacement D with allowable displacement Dcr.
