PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound of an oily dye, excellent in color reproductivity, preservability and solubility and useful for preparation of a magenta ink for an ink jet printing method. SOLUTION: This azomethine compound is represented by formula I [R1 is a 1-16C alkyl; R2 is a halogen, a 1-20C alkyl or the like; R3 is a 1-30C alkylene or the like; R4 is a 1-16C alkyl; L1 is a 1-30C alkylene or the like; L2 is CO-NH group or the like; X is cyano or the like; Y is H, a halogen or the like; m is 1-4; n is 1-18; p is 0-4; the number of the carbon atoms of R1, L1, L2, R3 and R4 totals 20-50] e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting an azole-based compound of formula III, e.g. 2-[4- 3-(tetradecyloxycarbonyl)propanoylamino}phenyl]-6-tert-butyl-7- chloropyrazolo[1,5-b][1,2,4]triazol, with a p-phenylenediamine-based compound of formula IV under an oxidative condition. |
