PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain refractory having dense structure in the whole temp. region of the use environment and high in strength and excellent in slag erosion resistance by forming a blended material containing resin coated magnesia particles, magnesia particles and carbon. SOLUTION: It is preferable that the magnesia particle is added at need to improve the strength and the content is desirably 20-75 wt.%. The content of the carbon is 3-40 wt.%, to which 0.5-10 wt.% metal and 0.2-5 wt.% compound containing boron per carbon are preferably added. As the resin to be applied, novolak and a resol type phenolic resin are used and the resin is applied by kneading the magnesia particle with the resin to be applied. The size of the magnesia particle of the resin coated magnesia particle is 1-10 mm, the quantity of the fixed carbon in the resin to be applied is 15-50 wt.% and the quantity of the resin is preferably 0.5-2 wt.% per 100 pts.wt. magnesia particle. The change of strength and elastic modulus in the environment, where rapid heating- quenching is repeated, is remarkably reduced. |
