PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable and highly accurate tracking control even in an optical recording device having no guide groove. SOLUTION: Tracking control is performed by a control section 12 so that after a track for detecting bit width is formed, the track is irradiated with an optical spot 9 in the next scanning. An output from an optical detector 3 at the time is compared with the prescribed value previously stored in a memory 11 by output comparing sections 14a, 14b, and a formed bit width is controlled by a control section 12 so that the bit width is made to the prescribed value. After the prescribed operation of the bit width, recording and reproducing of information are performed by a profiling tracking system. |
