PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen production apparatus that starts swiftly to begin to produce hydrogen gas.SOLUTION: A closed circulation circuit where a gas is sent back and circulated by a transfer device in the order of a desulfurizer, a reformer, and a CO converter bypassing a hydrogen purification unit is prepared in a gas flow passage. A purge gas supply passage for supplying a purge gas is prepared upstream of the transfer device in the gas flow passage. Before a stop operation, a purge process is performed in which the gas in the gas flow passage is exchanged for the purge gas, which is filled in the gas flow passage. In a start operation practiced in advance of a hydrogen purification operation, the gas in the gas flow passage is heated by operating heating means and the purge gas is supplied to the closed circulation circuit from the purge gas supply passage to raise pressure in the closed circulation circuit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
