Disclosed are an apparatus for estimating the position of a vehicle using a gradient of a road, and a method therefor which precisely estimates the position of a vehicle by applying a tilt angle of a road. The disclosed method for estimating the position of a vehicle using a gradient of a road comprises: a step of receiving plane speed information and vertical speed information of the vehicle from a GPS device; a step of generating tilt angle information of the road using the plane speed information and the vertical speed information; and a step of correcting the position of the vehicle using the tilt angle information.
