A milling cutter has a series of roughing cutter bits disposed around the axis of the cutter and at least one finishing cutter bit having a slightly crowned cutting edge which protrudes in the axial direction of the cutter. The roughing bits are triangular and are supported on a nest member 6, Fig. 5, while the finishing cutter bit is of generally square shape, e.g. bit 30, Fig. 7, and is supported by a correspondingly shaped nest 6a. |
