In the transfer printing of textiles, the intermediate support is provided with dye(s) and a carboxylated polyglycol ether (I) of the formula R1-(OR)n-O-(CH2)m-COOZ (in which R1 is H, opt. satd. 1-22C aliphatic gp., a cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl or aralkyl gp. with is not >12C, in which the phenyl ring of the aralkyl gp. can be substd. by 1 or 2 1-8C alkyl gps., a phenyl gp., which can be substd by 1,2 or 3 1-8C alkyl gps. with a total of is not >14C, or -(CH2)m-- -COOZ; R is a 2-6C alkylene gp., opt. substd. by Me or Ph; n = 2-200; m = 1-4; Z is H, NH4 or alkali metal). The pattern is transferred at 120-220 degrees C, using (I) as carrier. Used for printing textiles contg. cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, polyester, cuprammonium rayon, viscose rayon or cotton. The dye is (almost) entirely dissolved in the pattern layer and is transferred with (I), giving very good contour sharpness and penetration of the substrate and good fastness, e.g. to rubbing and automatic washing. (I) also accelerates fixing. |
