The method consists in advancing the waggon on normal gauge rails (1) towards and above bogies (3, 4, 5) of a truck located on narrow gauge rails (2) and held stationary by a device (10-13). This device is unlocked by a wheel (20) of the waggon when this wheel (20) reaches the height of a pusher (9) which it actuates. Continuing its movement, the wheel (20) abuts against a lever (15) pivoted to the bogie and held in a raised position by the profile of an auxiliary rail (19), and carries along the said bogie. While the bogie follows the advance of the axle of the waggon, and by virtue of the convergence of the planes containing the rails, the axle descends towards the bogie so that its wheels come to rest on the bearing parts (14) of the bogie. <IMAGE>
