New acetamidoximes corresponding to the formula: <IMAGE> in which R represents a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an alkoxy group containing from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, are prepared. For this, a 2-cyanoacetanilide of formula (II): <IMAGE> in which R has the same meaning as in formula (I), is reacted with hydroxylamine. The new compounds have shown psychotropic properties and they can be used in the treatment of mental disorders.
