The chimney is constructed with an inner wall (1) of fire clay surrounded by a layer (3) of thermal insulation. This thermal insulation consists of mineral wool and is formed in two half shells (6,6'). These half shells are supported by an inner covering (4) of perforated steel sheet or expanded metal. This covering is enclosed in an outer covering (2) of sheet steel. This outer covering has a square cross-section with air ducts (5) formed in each corner. This construction of chimney prevents the diffusion through the chimney wall of the water produced from the condensation of water in the flue gases.
