<p>PURPOSE:To offer a liquid crystal display material which requires no polarizer, and to offer a liquid crystal display device using it without requiring a back light. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal 4a dispersed in a mesh structure of grafted copolymer 4b is randomly present along the mesh interfaces when no voltage is applied. In this state, light which enters the material is scattered and the liquid crystal becomes opaque state. When voltage is applied, the major axis of liquid crystal 4a is oriented along the electric field, and the liquid crystal transmits light to become transparent. By using this material to constitute a liquid crystal display device, no polarizer is required, which gives light and clear picture images without a back light.</p> |
