CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for generating clamping force is provided in an injection molding machine constituted so that a stationary mold clamping plate, a movable mold clamping plate and a moving mechanism for moving the movable mold clamping plate in order to open and close an injection molding tool and the injection molding tool is arranged between the respective mold clamping plates. The moving mechanism can be locked at a position where the injection molding tool is closed by a lock device 16 and at least one member 13 comprising a positive magnetistrictive material is arranged between the moving mechanism and one mold clamping plate 1 or 4 and surrounded by an electromagnetic coil 21 forming an alternating magnetic field.
