<p>The male electrical connector comprises at least two conducting tongues or terminal blades (4,5,6,7) intended to be inserted into a female connector with corresponding sockets. There is also an electrical shunt (8) which short-circuits the terminals when the male connector is not fitted into the female connector. The shunt may be moved within the connector and is a U-shape with the branches of the 'U' folded back. The shape is such that the spring action of the 'U' urges the shunt into its connecting position. However, the force of the female part of the connector moves the shunt against this spring action to move it away from its connecting position.</p> |
