PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a photographic silver halide emulsion having high sensitivity and excellent storage stability without influencing the haze of the silver halide emulsion by subjecting the emulsion to reducing sensitizing in the presence of a sulfurizing agent and a stabilizer between a growing process and a cleaning process. SOLUTION: This production of a silver halide photographic emulsion consists of nuclei producing process, growing process and cleaning process, and reduction sensitization is carried out between the growing process and the cleaning process in the presence of a surfurizing agent and a stabilizer. The stabilizer used is an azaindene deriv. Preferably the stabilizer is a tetra azaindene deriv. The stabilizer is added by 10<-6> to 10<-1> mol per mol of silver, and preferably 10<-4> to 10<-2> mol per mol of silver. The emulsion is subjected to reduction sensitization with ascorbic acid or its deriv., and the ascorbic acid or its deriv. is added by 10<-2> to 1mol per mol silver, preferably at least 10<-1> mol. |
