Movable running board for vehicle door

The running board (1) for a vehicle door (2) pivoted about hinges (3,4) is pivoted about an axis parallel to the vehicle floor. It comprises running board operating rod and transmission cable connected to a control toothed wheel rotating freely on the door and meshing with a complementary toothed portion on the periphery of a spindle fixed to a door hinge (3). The control wheel is movable during opening and closing of the door so as to pull or push the transmission cable controlling the operating rod.
