PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the track width of a recording head and to shorten the magnetic path length. SOLUTION: A lower magnetic pole layer and an upper magnetic pole layer have 1st parts 8a and 15a which are arranged in areas including areas facing thin-film coils 12 and 18, 2nd parts 8b and 15b which form magnetic pole parts and are connected to the 1st parts 8b and 15b, and 3rd parts 8c and 15c for connecting the 1st parts 8a and 15a to each other. The thin-film coils 12 and 18 are arranged between the 2nd parts 8b and 15b and 3rd parts 8c and 15c and the outermost circumferential ends and innermost circumferential ends are formed in contact with the side walls of the 2nd parts 8b and 15b and the side walls of the 3rd parts 8c and 15c across insulating films 10 and 16. |
