<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To demodulate an abnormally read bar code by conjecturing and correcting a bar, which has been apparently read as one bar, as plural bars. SOLUTION: The bar code reader which reads a bar code consisting of plural white bars and plural black bars is provided with a generation means 8 which generates a bar width value BCD indicating the width of each read white or black bar, a discrimination means 12 which discriminates whether the read bar code meets a prescribed standard condition or not on the basis of the bar width values, and a conversion means 12 which converts one white or black bar constituting the bar code to plural bars where a black or white bar is interposed between white or black bars. If the discrimination means 12 discriminates that the bar code does not meet the prescribed standard condition, one white or black bar constituting the bar code is converted by the conversion means, and the bar code is discriminated again by the discrimination means.</p> |
