PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably improve rise of a light output by suppressing the influence of the impedance of a starting lighting circuit from the beginning to stabilize lighting while holding the dynamic range without enlarging the width of electric power to be controlled. SOLUTION: A discharge lamp lighting device comprises a control circuit 10 including a voltage detector 14 and a current detector 15 for respectively detecting an output voltage and an output current of a DC-DC converter 1 as a lamp voltage and a lamp current for a high-luminance discharge lamp DL so as to output detecting signals S14, S15; and a voltage corrector 16 for using the detecting signal output from the current detector 15 so as to correct a component produced in the detecting signal S14 caused by impedance of a starting lighting circuit 2; wherein the control circuit 10 produces a detection correcting signal S16 corrected by the voltage corrector 16 and an output controlling signal S19 in response to the detecting signal S15, and then, outputs them to the DC-DC converter 1.
