An online retrieval system including a data processor, and a storage device provided with a storage unit for keywords or the like, a data storage unit, a URL storage unit or the like, the data processor being provided with a retrieval condition storing means for storing a keyword condition as one of retrieval conditions in the above keyword storage unit, and with a data retrieval means for retrieving data based on the keyword condition, wherein registering of a keyword or the like is judged as to whether, at a retrieval by a user, data or the like corresponding to a retrieved keyword is available or not, or whether a keyword corresponding to available data or the like has been stored or not, and, when a keyword or the like has not been registered, the user adds data to the storage device by a retrieval condition input means for registering a new keyword or the like; and the method for the system.
