Excellent -secretase inhibitors are provided, which contain compounds of the general formula (I) or salts thereof, wherein Ar is an aromatic group; X is a divalent group selected from among O-, -S-, -CO-, -SO-, -SO>2<-, -NR?8>-, -CONR<8>-, -SO2NR<8>- and -COO- (wherein R<8> is hydrogen or the like), a divalent C1-6 aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may contain one or two of these divalent groups, or a free valency; Y is a divalent group selected from among O-, -S-, -CO-, -SO-, -SO2-, -NR<8>-, -CONR<8>-, -SO2NR<8>-, and COO-, or a divalent C1-6 aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may contain one or two of these divalent groups ; R<1> and R<2> are each hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group, or the like; and A is a ring which may be further substituted.
