PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fingerprint collation apparatus in which the variation of a fingerprint's position on a part to be collated is suppressed and the collation accuracy of a fingerprint is improved and a fingerprint collation apparatus in which the collation accuracy of a fingerprint is improved by clarifying the timing of fingerprint collation. SOLUTION: A finger insertion cylinder 3 connected to a finger putting part for exposing a fingerprint on a prescribed portion of a finger is arranged, the position of a finger 4' put on the finger putting part is regulated so that the finger 4' inserted into the finger insertion cylinder 3 is guided to the finger putting part, the fingerprint is picked up by an image pickup means 8, and the photographed fingerprint image is processed and collated with previously registered fingerprints.
