PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of conducting both operations of killing weeds in lawn and cutting roots of the lawn for activating the lawn with the same apparatus by changing specifications thereof and switching over between them, for the purpose of avoiding effects of treading, wind, and rain on the lawn, formation of irregular areas caused by unevenness of growth, etc., and degradation with the elapse of time, while a problem of killing the weeds is not solved only by fertilizing the lawn, nor by cutting the lawn, when the lawn is grown, kept, and maintained. SOLUTION: This apparatus for cutting the roots of the lawn and killing the weeds comprises a handcart, is used in the operation of cutting the roots, by arranging a rotary shaft line of a rotary drum to which blades for killing the weeds and cutting the roots are attached in the perpendicular direction to traveling of a truck of the apparatus, and further used in the operation of killing the weeds, by arranging the shaft line to be inclined at an angle of about 35°toward the perpendicular direction, wherein four wheels are attached to the truck, so that the shaft line is kept in a state of being parallel to a surface to which tires of the wheels of the truck are attached, namely, the ground surface of the lawn, and a distance between the shaft line and the surface is changeable in any of the operations. Further, the apparatus is structured so that the truck is supported by three wheels among the four wheels and the distance between the shaft line and the surface are changeable. Furthermore, the distance between the rotary shaft line of the rotary drum to which the blades are attached and the ground surface of the lawn in the parallel state is controlled, by changing a distance between one of the three supporting wheels and the ground surface, in any of the operations of cutting the roots and killing the weeds.
