PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ink delivering properties from deteriorating caused by sticking ink mist around a delivering opening of an inkjet recording head while both improving the throughput during text recording or the like and high quality recording on a high quality recording medium coexist with each other. SOLUTION: In accordance with a kind of a recording medium selected so as to obtain a required quality of recording, and furthermore, a recording operation condition for obtaining a different recording duty such as one path recording and multi-path recording, a distance between the recording head and the recording medium is changed and set, and furthermore, in accordance with the size of the set distance, the frequency of wiping processing is controlled.
