PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder of a high conveyance precision. SOLUTION: The image recorder is equipped with a recording head; a first conveyance means which conveys the recording medium by only a pitch P1 for every scanning of the recording head; a cutting means which cuts the recording medium; and a second conveyance means which is disposed at the downstream side more than the first conveyance means and recording head, and at the upstream side more than the cutting means, and which conveys a cutting part of the recording medium to a cutting position of the cutting means. The image recorder has a control means which controls to convey the recording medium by only the pitch P1 for every scanning of the recording head when a distance between the cutting part and the cutting position is larger than the pitch P1. When the distance reaches not larger than the pitch P1, the control means controls to convey the recording medium by the first conveyance means by only the pitch P1. At the same time, after conveying the recording medium by the second conveyance means by only a distance P2 between the cutting part and the cutting position, the control means control to cut the cutting part and then further convey the recording medium by the second conveyance means by only a difference (P1-P2).
