<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a basic refractory and its manufacturing method which can reduce the porosity by using a cheap bittern and at the same time can improve corrosion resistance and thermal spalling resistance. <P>SOLUTION: A magnesia-chrome-based refractory is subjected to immersing treatment with a bittern solution in 10-30 Baume degree.
