PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which enables the execution of a normal APC control and laser driving and also enables the laser driving with a stable optical output even on the occasion when a semiconductor laser is driven with a low electric current. SOLUTION: The apparatus has an offset voltage generating means which offsets the voltage of a hold capacitor being charged or discharged. By offsetting the hold voltage of the hold capacitor by the offset voltage generating means, a charge-discharge transistor formed inside a charge-discharge circuit can be driven in an active region. Accordingly, the APC control and semiconductor laser driving can be performed stably even on the occasion when the semiconductor laser is driven with the low current. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
