PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a liquid ejector without complicating constitution thereof. SOLUTION: When a pump 9 is driven in a state where communication between a reservoir tank 10 and outside air is not interrupted by a first valve 11 and communication between the reservoir tank 10 and a second cartridge attaching unit 13 is interrupted by a second valve 12, the ink in the inkjet head 3 is sucked from a nozzle through a suction cap 7 covering the nozzle of the inkjet head 3, and fed into the reservoir tank 10. On the other hand, when the pump 9 is driven in the state where the communication between the reservoir tank 10 and the outside air is interrupted by the first valve and the communication between the reservoir tank 10 and the second cartridge attaching unit 13 is not interrupted by the second valve 12, the ink reserved in the reservoir tank 10 is fed to the used ink cartridge 25 attached to the second cartridge attaching unit 13.
