The present invention relates to a protein involved in the latent infection with a herpesvirus, and to the use thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to a polynucleotide encoding the protein having activity of increasing an intracellular calcium concentration and having the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1, to a recombinant expression vector and a transformant which comprise said polynucleotide, and to a detection instrument for said polynucleotide. Furthermore, the invention relates to the protein having activity of increasing an intracellular calcium concentration and having the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1, and to an antibody against said protein. The invention also relates to an instrument and a method for diagnosing a mental disorder in animals, including humans, in particular, a mental disorder caused by Crohn's disease, as well as to a kit for performing said method and to a transgenic model animal for use as an animal model of a mental disorder. |
