PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery equipped with an enhanced cyclic lifetime characteristic without causing a drop of the electricity collecting efficiency. SOLUTION: Pure lead is heated at 500 deg.C, and 0.07 wt.% calcium and 1.2 wt.% tin are added followed by stirring, and the obtained mixture is poured into a book-mold lattice die at 250 deg.C, followed by 30-min slow cooling so that an electrode plate grid is produced consisting of a Pb-based alloy with 0.07 wt.% Ga and 1.2 wt.% Sn, wherein the outer rib part 4 not filled with active material 2 is covered with a tape of fluororesin (to form a covering layer 3). Owing to this covering with fluororesin, the electrode plate grid is precluded from corrosion resulting from electrochemical reactions at the interface with aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. |
