<p>The ambulance has a horizontal support surface extending almost from front to rear of the interior, to carry a stretcher (6) so that the feet of the patient are towards the rear door (5). A seat (7) for an attendant or doctor is mounted on a raised platform (8) which is L-shaped in plan view. This platform extends across the vehicle behind the head of the patient, and also about half-way along one side. The seat is mounted on the platform so that it can travel along it so that the doctor can reach the head and side zones around the patient. The seat may be mounted on rollers travelling in tracks along the platform, or may fit over guide rails projecting up from the platform.</p>
