The steam or water power engine has a housing with a double-acting reciprocating piston. The piston has a shaped inner cam face engaged by rollers carried on a rotor such taht the reciprocating motion of the piston causes rotation of the rotor. The arrangement is such that there are three working strokes of the piston per revolution of the rotor. When used as a water power engine there may be air chambers (1) to balance compression. The flow of the working medium may be controlled by rotary valves.
