Casting inspection appts. mounted on pressure die casting machine - for automatic examination of each casting without manual labour

The machine includes a transfer device, e.g. swivel tongs employed to remove the casting from the dies and place it in the inspection appts. The appts. includes pivot shafts which are not orthagonal w.r.t. the surfaces of the casting being examined and the shafts are used as mountings for double armed pendulum rods, each wth a test arm and a switch arm. A probe is fitted on the end of each test arm whereas a switch is fitted on the end of each switch arm. The length of each probe and/or of each test arm can pref. be adjusted, and the switches on each switch arm pref. include a terminal which can actuate a contactless switch if the casting does not possess the desired shape. Each coasting is automatically inspected to ensure that it is complete before being transferred to the next mfg. operation, and to ensure that no broken pieces of the casting have been left in the die.
