PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need to connect to a network to know when information which desires to obtain has been updated by providing an update confirming means for confirming the update of information between the network and a server. SOLUTION: A portable information terminal 5 is connected to a distribution sever 1 through a portable telephone network 52. Then one of content servers 54-1 to 54-n is selected on the portable information terminal 5 and the result is transmitted to the distribution server 1. The distribution server 1 accesses the selected content server 54 to obtain its contents, and records the contents, access frequency, and update date and time as a database on the distribution server 1 while distributing the contents. Then the distribution server 1 confirms the update information one the contents in the database at predetermined intervals of time and e-mails a list of updated contents to the portable information terminal 5. Consequently, neither unnecessary communication cost nor an unnecessary communication time is needed. |
