An apparatus is described to produce a material flow 25 wrapped in film, preferably a flow of hay bales 7. The material flow 25 is formed in that a web of film 6 is unwound from a roll 22, and a wrapping station 18 which travels in a circular trajectory in the film is brought to rest against support elements 5. In order to reduce the power consumption and avoid the risk of cracking in the formed film tube, the objects 7 will be introduced into a formed tube in a position between the supporting elements 5 and be placed directly on the ground surface 26, resting on the inside of the film 6. The displacement occurs by means of pressing plates 9 in that a stamp 10 is pressed against a side surface on a last object in the formed flow. Thereupon, the apparatus is moved with the frame 1 which supports the wrapping station 18. In this way, a very limited weight is shifted in relation to the weight which should be shifted for as long as the flow needs to be shifted between the wrapping section 19 of the apparatus during the wrapping. <IMAGE>
