PURPOSE:To prevent dialing of a wrong telephone number by displaying not only a telephone number but also characters and symbols meaning the name of the other party on a display part to discriminate immediately whether the displayed telephone number is correct or not. CONSTITUTION:When a key 22 is depressed once, a cursor right moving code in a cursor moving code table 26 is selected and is sent to a display part 3 through a cursor moving code output part 27, and a cursor 28 is moved right by one character. A clear signal is outputted from the cursor moving code output part 27 simultaneously with this movement, and contents of a ternary counter 24 are set to point in initial value, namely, the first stage of a character code table. When a key 12 is depressed once, 'A' is displayed on the display part 3. The similar operation is performed hereafter to display desired alphabetic characters on the display part 3, and they are stored in a telephone number register part 7 by a prescribed method. Since characters and symbols meaning the name of the other party are displayed together with the telephone number in case of telephoning, it is discriminated immediately whether the displayed telephone number is correct or not.
