A locking system for preventing the unauthorized opening of vending machines of the type using either T-handle locks or cam locks, including a retractable latch for preventing operation of the door handle until the retractable latch is retracted, a mechanical combination lock, and flexible interconnecting means between the retractable latch and the combination lock for retracting the latch when the correct combination is entered into the combination lock.
