PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of unevenness in electrostatic charging even in the case a device uses a contact type roller cleaning member and is provided with a toner recycling mechanism. SOLUTION: In an electrostatic charging roller 9, a part formed of conductive rubber 13 is always brought into press contact with the surface of a photoreceptor 1 so that the roller 9 is rotated in accordance with the rotation of the photoreceptor 1, and the roller cleaning member 22 is always brought into press contact with the surface of the electrostatic charging roller 9. When the electrostatic charging roller 9 is rotated in accordance with the rotation of the photoreceptor 1, the toner and paper powder, etc., sticking to the surface are cleaned by the roller cleaning member 22. As for the electrostatic charging roller 9, the surface is ground so as to obtain aimed surface roughness, and the orientation of the ground thread is controlled so that the thread may come into forward contact (contact with less friction) with reference to the direction of coming into slidable contact with the roller cleaning member 22. |
