摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) of a hybrid electric vehicle is provided to improve the power of the engine by deciding the driving state of the engine according to the RPM of a charging engine and controlling the RPM of the charging engine in order to achieve a desired RPM. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling engine RPM of a hybrid electric vehicle is composed of: an engine RPM sensor; a controller outputting a signal opening a throttle valve if the sensed RPM is smaller than desired RPM, and deciding whether the engine RPM is within the setting range adding definite value to the desired RPM if the sensed RPM is larger than the desired RPM, then outputting a signal closing a throttle valve if the engine RPM is out of the setting range; a device for driving the throttle valve, varying the opening amount of the throttle valve according to the output signal of the controller.
