The present invention relates to a ceramic wearing portion 1 for a grate in a boiler, said wearing portion being intended for those places in fluid bed, circulating fluid bed, and bubble bed boilers which are subjected to a concurrently acting mechanical, chemical and thermal loads. The durability of grate portions of the prior art is significantly lower than other ceramic refractory linings in a boiler. The portion according to the invention has been made of a blank in which the zirconium oxide content in the ceramic composition and the fraction of glassy phase in crystallographic analysis have been defined. Correspondingly, the geometric shape of the wearing portion has been defined. <IMAGE>
